The Right to Love Premiere this Monday, February 6, 2012

Hi Swirlians,

For anyone in the SF area, join me this Monday February 6, 2012 at the Castro theatre to view "The Right to Love," a powerful and moving story about a gay couple and their loving children during the Proposition 8 trials. The director, Cassie Jaye, talks about her experiences during Prop 8, with an evangelical background in mind. Tune in this weekend to hear the interview or get down to the Castro theatre to check out the movie.

Cynthia Nixon - She chose to be a lesbian.

In a recent article with the New York Times, Cynthia Nixon pretty much says being gay was her choice. I say HER not A choice as most LGBT media outlets are covering. Everyone is having an opinion about how she responded. Must we all label ourselves correctly? Did Cynthia Nixon nix the LGBT community in her response?

I have a lot of things to say about…

Netroots Nation- Using cellphpones to report breaking news

Today's session with Uptake (www.theuptake.org), was about creative ways to use your smartphone (Iphone and Androids are best) to capture news and create breaking news through it.

It was the best session so far at Netroots for me because the three guys presenting gave succinct information and even showed up sites where to download the free apps to create editable footage. I'll post here at a later date after they email me the details for…

Netroots Nation - Immigration issues within the LGBT community

There was an explosive panel yesterday that included 4 panelists who are receiving awards for the Freedom from Fear Award. The four (Felipe, Reyna, Juan, and Tania) spoke about their personal experiences.

This was a much needed topic to discuss since immigration and bi national couples exist within the LGBT community. I can't imagine being ripped apart from the person you love because you don't have the same rights as heterosexual people here in the states. Most importantly,…

Netroots Nation - Funding Blogs and supporting the LGBT Blogosphere.

I had the awesome opportunity to attend  a panel of brilliant minds such as Eden James of Change.org, but formely of Courage Compaign. We had a break out session during the LGBT pre-conference of Netroots Nation that addressed the issue of Bloggers and how they can be well sustained in their craft as well as being well funded.

Eden started the panel with the suggestion the non-profits should create an endowment or a fund to support these bloggers. Jillian Weiss responded that…

Get 'er done!

Today’s kick-off of the Netroots Nation 2011 conference was a much needed pre-cursor for what’s to come in the following days: ideas, issues, hard questions and the growth of answers.

Answers grow.

The evolution of answers is both a reminder of the virtue in patience, and the urgency of the issues at hand. Dialogue, debate and discourse are only as good as the action that follows so moving forward - let’s do this shall we?

Do what?

How to order a drink at the club

Its all about quantity people! Yes we want to make a good drink for you butif you ask for something that takes a lot of time you are messin' with our flow. So normally clubs do not blend or muddle unless you are at one of those Wet Willie places where the frozen drinks are in the wall and just require the pulling of a handle! Real clubs don't have that. DO NOT MAKE US SHAKE A DRINK UNLESS YOU ORDER AT LEAST 4! It takes too long! Have your money ready, know what you want...don't ask me what's… Continue

Cause I made you 6 drinks!  Get it!  6 drinks @ $1 per drink easy math!  Don’t try to front…if you can afford these drinks you should be able to tip me the right way and if you think you are going to get away with tipping me less than…just know that next time you come to me and order a drink,…

The issue of Exodus International

We'll be interviewing Exodus International next week about the Iphone application that Apple removed after lots of pressure from Change.org and Truth Wins Out. While I do believe that there are harmful effects of trying to reverse one's sexuality or forcing someone to believe something they don't, I have to say that I need to keep a diverse outlook on the situation. Exodus International clearly states they help those who do not "want" homosexuality. There are a lot of Christian friends and…

Car ride with Dan Choi.

We've all come to know Dan as "Lt. Dan Choi." The courageous, pompous, and arrogant Lt. famous for coming out on the Rachel Maddow show and most recently popular for shoving a fat "F$^@ You" finger to President Obama. He's been arrested several times for causes he believes in. While those who don't know of him would applaud him instantly from reading the first two lines of this blog, some of us criticize Dan and some of  us flat just disagree with his tactics. When I say "us," I mean members…
